ASUS
Sell your ROG Ally.
Z1, Z1 Extreme, Ally X. A gaming handheld that is also a Windows PC, which is exactly why it is hard to sell privately. Not to us.
The ROG Ally sells slowly in private hands for a reason that has nothing to do with the hardware being bad. It is a Windows PC in a handheld shell, which means a private buyer has to be simultaneously confident about gaming performance, battery behaviour and whether the previous owner left something unpleasant on the drive. Most are not, so they hesitate, and the listing sits.
We do not have that problem, because every machine gets wiped and tested here before it goes anywhere. So the Ally is one of the categories where the gap between our offer and a realistic private sale is smallest.
The Ally X is a substantially different machine from the original Ally, with a bigger battery and better ergonomics, and it is worth considerably more. Choose carefully in the calculator.
Every one of these has two numbers.
What it is worth working, and what it is worth faulty. Both are real, both are yours in about a minute, and both depend on the actual console rather than a best case printed on a page. That is why the number lives in the calculator and not in a table here.

Upgrading?
Then you are not really selling. You are part-paying.
The Ally X fixes the original Ally's two real weaknesses, the battery and the grips, without changing anything you have installed. The Legion Go Gen 2 is the bigger, more expensive jump.
Take the payout as EpicDeals.co.za credit instead of cash and we add 12% on top. That is us paying you for not needing the money in your account today, and it costs you nothing if you were going to spend it here anyway.
The 12% is only worth taking if you were going to spend it. If you need the cash, take the cash, and we will not make the voucher hard to refuse.
What actually moves the number.
Z1 versus Z1 Extreme versus Z2
Same shell, very different chips, very different prices. The model is printed on the box and visible in Windows under system information. Getting it right is the single biggest thing you can do for the accuracy of your offer.
The microSD slot
Early Allys had a well-documented habit of cooking their microSD readers. If yours no longer reads cards, that is a known fault, it is priced for, and pretending otherwise just delays things.
Battery health
Handhelds live on their batteries, and the original Ally's was not generous to begin with. A battery that no longer holds a useful charge lowers the offer but does not end the conversation.
Charger, case and dock
The 65W charger is specific and worth including. Third-party cases and docks are welcome but count for less than the original kit.
Things that do not disqualify it.
Every one of these lowers the offer. Not one of them ends it. Pick the matching condition, say what is wrong in the notes, and the price you are shown already accounts for it.
- Dead or unreliable microSD card reader
- Battery that no longer holds a useful charge
- Stick drift, worn triggers or sticking buttons
- Screen scratches, dead pixels
- Fan noise, overheating, thermal throttling
- USB-C or charging port damage
- Will not boot, or boots to a Windows error
Three ways to take the money.
