Here is the thing that shelf does not know: a dead console is still made of expensive parts. The board might be gone but the drive, the shell, the fan, the power supply and the controller are all fine, and every one of them is something someone else's console needs. The number is smaller than a working one. It is not small. And it is a great deal larger than the number you are currently getting for it, which is zero.

Whether it powers on at all
This is the single biggest fork in the road. A console that powers on but misbehaves is worth substantially more than one that shows no sign of life, because far more of it is provably intact.
Liquid damage, and why it is worth mentioning
Liquid damage is visible to anyone who opens the console, so it is not a secret worth keeping. Declared, it lowers the offer a little. Undeclared, it means a conversation and a revised offer, which wastes a week of your time.

A faulty console with its cables, controller and box is worth more than a bare board in a shoebox. Send the whole thing, not the interesting part.
