Sell a console that powers on but shows nothing.
A dead HDMI port is one of the better faults to have, because everything behind it usually still works. Check three things first, then get a number.
A console that powers on with no picture is, counter-intuitively, good news compared with one that will not power on at all. It means the power supply and usually the board are alive, and the fault is most often the HDMI port itself, which is a contained repair rather than a dead machine.
It is also the fault most likely to turn out not to be a fault. Cables fail, TV inputs get switched, and a console that only works if you hold the cable at a particular angle is a loose port rather than a dead one. Both are worth checking before you assume the worst.
The port itself usually breaks the same way: something caught the cable while it was plugged in, often a foot or a pet, and levered the connector off its solder. That is a known, everyday repair and it is priced as one.

Try another cable, another input, another TV
In that order, and do all three before deciding. HDMI cables fail more often than consoles do, and a console that works fine on a different television was never broken. It costs you ten minutes and can change the number entirely.
Look into the port with a torch
A bent or recessed connector is visible from outside and is worth describing. It tells us the port took a knock rather than failing on its own, which is a different and usually cheaper repair.
Everything behind the port still counts
Storage, model, condition, controllers and box all price as normal. A no-video PS5 Slim is worth appreciably more than a working original PS5, because the fault is one component rather than the machine.
Sign out before you send it
Harder with no picture, so do it from a browser: sign in to your PlayStation, Xbox or Nintendo account online and deactivate the console remotely. It takes two minutes and saves a phone call later.
Things that do not disqualify it.
